About Hotpads
Hotpads.com is a real estate and rental marketplace. The website launched in November of 2005 with the goal of assisting users in their search for housing. Hotpads allows users to search via an interactive map, which displays listings at their physical location on the map. Listings are also shown using color-coded building icons for further information about the listing. HotPads includes Zillow’s Rent Zestimates (estimated monthly rent price, computed using a proprietary formula), Walk Score’s walkability score, and school attendance zones for every listing. The site was founded by Matt Corgan, Douglas Pope, and John Fitzpatrick in 2005, and purchased by Zillow in 2012. Hotpad currently operates out of a Zillow office located in San Francisco, California.
Renters may sign up for Hotpads or free, allowing them to search and save listings as well as even send payments to their landlord if they locate their new residence through the site. Landlords also may sign up but some services offered for renters do have a recurring subscription cost associated. Monthly costs for landlord services will vary based on whether the user is signed up for rental management tools for residences housing less than 50 people total or for Zillow’s advertising option for landlords with residences that house more than 50 total people, as well as by which specific services and options have been chosen for the account. Subscriptions do automatically renew monthly for some services and will continue to renew until cancelled. Services and accounts may be cancelled at any time desired by the member. More information about exactly how to cancel your Hotpads account as a landlord or a renter is included on this page to assist you should you wish to do so.
